It's Potty Time.....I think

Warning: This post contains potty talk. :)

I went to change Eva's diaper this morning. After laying her down, she looked at me and said, "Eva pee pee." I asked, "Did you go pee pee?" (This is a common conversation when diaper changes occur. Usually she thinks she's funny by saying that she didn't do what we are asking about.) This time instead of teasing me and saying no, she said, "No, Eva pee pee." Then proceeded to do what she just said she was going to do. (In case you were wondering, her diaper was still on, thankfully.) She looked quite proud of herself after finishing. I praised her for recognizing having to go and asked if she wanted to sit on her potty. That she said no to.

This is the first time that she has verbalized having to go bathroom. When she was around 18 months, she started taking interest in the toilet and whatnot, so we got her her own little potty. She would sit on it from time to time, but more out of copying than to do anything. So I never pushed it, not really knowing how to go about it. But I'm thinking this is a really good sign that she is ready to potty train and would like to capitalize on it. So what are your potty training ideas, methods, secrets, advice?

Peacegiver

My newest favorite book: Peacegiver by James Ferrell. The story in it centers around a relationship between a husband and wife. But its message is about the Atonement and how the Atonement can heal us if we allow it. So it applies to everyone, in all stages of life, and with all relationships.

It was so thought-provoking and eye-opening for me. I highly recommend it!

Newest from Eva

Things to remember about Eva right now.

Her favorite color is red (answer when asked by Kyle. although pretty sure it's really pink.)
Favorite shows are "Little Einsteins," "Mickey Mouse Clubhouse," and "Pocoyo"
Favorite dance is the Hot Dog Dance from MMC (she'll randomly sing "hot dog! hot dog! hot dog!" while dancing--i.e. bouncing up and down, walking, and swaying back and forth with arms in chicken dance position -- all done simultaneously)
She colors with her left hand, eats with her right, and does a pretty good job switching between hands for different things
She likes to play with the dog, talk to her, pet and hug her, and also to tell her to go away
She recently started counting to 15 on her own, and does pretty well getting the numbers after 10
She has a unique way of counting to 10: "wahn-two-free-five-sac-salmon-eat-nahn-ten!" (she skips four every time, we're working on that :)
She likes to count down when her milk is warming in the microwave (she really only likes warm milk) and gets so excited to say zero!
She loves to accessorize her outfits

Her favorite activities are cooking (pretend and for real with me) and coloring, especially now she has discovered markers
Anytime she hears a kitchen timer beep she says "dinner!" and comes running into the kitchen
Love her cheesy grins when we tell her to smile for a picture
Yes, this is a smile and not a growl. :)

Her favorite songs right now (what she sings the most on her own or requests of us): "Twinkle, Twinkle" (lately she hasn't been singing it as much as she sounds like she is rapping it. I have got to try to get that on video. haha) "I Am a Child of God" (her request lately has been for the second verse - "so my greats") "ABC's" "Hot Dog" "Wheels on the Bus"
Her favorite foods: tomatoes and pizza
eating a tomato like an apple
separate occasion eating a tomato like an apple. she LOVES tomatoes!
Her favorite treat: any kind of candy! (she asks for "can-nee" and "pop-pop" for lollipop)
Our favorite things she says: "Cute!" (whenever I get dressed, and she thinks it cute. she'll tell me "no like it" if she doesn't. definitely the little fashionista already) "Where it go?" (said with hands up in the air, Kyle's favorite) followed by "I fine it! Eva fine it!" (the 'd' in find is silent apparently :)
Latest favorite phrases: "Oh goo-ness!" "Oh my goo-ness!" (again, the 'd' is silent)
Newest phrase as of today: "Aw man!" (followed by whatever just happened, like "color (crayon) fell under couch" or "color break")

Love this little girl!
