(I still can't seem to catch her smile on camera. So this is the closest I've gotten lately.)
I know I missed the blog update when Eva turned 6 months. What was crazy to me at that time was that literally the week after she turned 6 mos. she changed SO MUCH each day. She started laughing with us and trying to make us laugh. She started moving around a lot! She started saying consonants like "mamama" and watching our mouths as we talked. She started trying to skip her afternoon nap. She finally would sit in her high chair. There were lots of things that all of a sudden happened that week, and she has only progressed since then. So now, she is...
- Trying to figure out how to crawl. She mostly likes to scoot on her back because she can push of the ground that way. On her stomach, she can't quite coordinate her hands and her feet. So she will end up frustrated and just put her face down and scoot that way. She's getting it little by little though.
- Eating sweet potatoes, bananas, carrots, and quinoa. She
has tried nectarines and yellow squash, and does not care for either.
- Not liking having her hands and face washed after eating.
- Trying to drink water out of our glass. She started out liking the sippy cup, but for some reason thinks drinking our way is more fun and now won't pay much attention to her sippy cups.
- Giggling at the dog whenever she sees her. Eva gets so excited to see G and will grab at her ears and lips. G just lets her do it. Thankfully!
(well at least this sippy cup is good for something :P )
- Still teething and drooling like crazy, but no sign of teeth yet.
- Loving even more to read books. Or rather, still in love with turning the pages of books. My favorite is having her sit on the couch between us and giving her a book because she'll just sit there content turning the pages back and forth.
- Putting everything in her mouth. It's entertaining to see her reaction to different things.
- Leaning backwards when in our arms to try and see the world upside down. I suppose it's more exciting that way.
- Noticing everything around her. It's fun to see her look of wonder because she is actually "seeing" everything for the first time. She is fascinated with ceiling fans and lights.
- Loving to play peek-a-boo.
- Recognizing her name.
- Singing when she wakes up, when she is playing, when she is eating, when we play piano.
- Standing up while holding our hands. She hasn't figured out yet that she can hold on to other things to stand up, but we're probably not too far away from that. Yikes!
- Walking while holding our hands. Well, she actually doesn't like to hold our hands while she's trying to walk. So we have to put our hands in her armpits. Pretty funny how much she'll fight to have her hands free.
- Unsure about whether or not she likes the pool. She likes taking a bath pretty well, but she doesn't know about the pool. Maybe it's too big of a "bath tub" for her?
- Loving her daddy! She gets so excited to see him. I love it!
- Starting to remember things. My favorite example of this is from last night. Kyle will play peek-a-boo with her when he gets home from work where he'll be upstairs in our room and come to the balcony for Eva to see him while she and I are in the living room. Well, last night Kyle came home later because of Scouts and I heard him coming through the door. Eva was in her high chair and I said to her, "Guess who's home? I hear Daddy!" And she immediately looked up to the balcony where Kyle usually stands. It was so cute! When he came through the door, Kyle had to say her name and wave his hands to catch her attention. And when she saw him, she gave him the biggest smile and giggle because she was so excited!
We could not be more in love with this little girl. She is such a joy in our lives and brings the best spirit to our home. We are so blessed!
